late ! and why ? of course I need a scapegoat, and this time it is a big one: an earthquake at 2:21am, magnitude 4 in our area but 5 at the level of the nearby active volcano (I'm not talking about Fuji). First shake and we wake up. Immediately after that, a large shock and shake, loud noise… we get up in a hurry and scramble to the glass door. I loose balance and fall heavily on my knee which hits the wooden rail on which the fusuma doors slide. Ouch ! unable to move, and Upasak already outside, calling me… the house could have crumbled ! I worry about Melto, our old mother cat who was sleeping with me in the futon. She is there, at the same place… I get up, pick her up to get out with her. The other two, Bella and Bibi, have already taken refuge under a table… but it's over, no more shock. Back to bed, but still, I prepare some clothes near the door, in case… it is not warm nowadays, at 2:30 in the mornig !
back to my scapegoat: impossible to get back to sleep right away. I'm waiting for another shock… which doesn't come. The cats get back inside the futon and finally when I open my eyes Upasak is making tea and it is almost 8:00 !
